We who came to Dreamfish came because we wanted a new way to work. Where everyone is welcome. We wanted a place to make a living and as we make a life.  We wanted the tools, experience and the community support to thrive. We wanted to be free and grow outside of the typical work-a-day world. We wanted to use our experience to realize our dreams. We wanted to grow in an open environment that fosters creativity, and collaboration. We have come here to dreamfish.

[edit] What is Dreamfish?

Dreamfish is a member-operated work cooperative of independents and entrepreneurs, who work together, and learn together for a happier world. A social enterprise, our mission is sustainable work for all. Creating a work ecosystem that can help millions of entrepreneurs to make a living and make a life is our dream. To do this, we operate a distributed collaborative work network for hiring, peer learning groups, online tools for project-based work, and project management practices. We also support a culture of value creation that accounts for personal development, social and environmental impact.

[edit] How does Dreamfish work?

  • Finding work

Individuals find work through networking and working together. Here's how: Fill out your member profile. You can even make a Wave video about your work and embed it on your profile. Then, contact members for job postings and projects you want to work on.

  • Recruiting a worker

You can recruit the right person for a job by posting a job description. Browse through networks of members. Contact a member to have them read your job description and your own member profile.

  • Learning in Peer Groups

Local groups are where we meet, exchange ideas and learn from one another around common goals. Groups meet both in-person and online. You can startup a group or join an existing group. Learn more.

  • Collaborative Project Management

Dreamfish helps you to create, manage and collaborate on project-based work. In the Dreamfish Projects space, you will find tools and methods you need, as well as more experienced people around to ask for help.

  • Peer Coaching and Mentorship

In Dreamfish, we know that money isn’t everything. In fact, we would take experience over money every time. This is why we’re putting out an open call for potential mentors and advisors to join our network. You can act as a mentor for specific dreamfish or serve as an advisor to specific projects through online, phone or in-person meetings. Once you’ve created a profile, other dreamfishers can connect directly with you to ask for your advice. You have complete flexibility in managing your mentoring relationships to suit your individual style. Your contribution is vital to keeping the Dreamfish mission alive and swimming.

[edit] Membership Guidelines

Membership Guidelines are agreements that we make to this work community. Member Guidelines covers your behavior as a member of Dreamfish network, in any wiki, forum, chat, mailing list, web site, public meeting or private correspondence.

1. Practice Respect

Each member and each contribution in this community is valuable. We expect for each person to be treated with the upmost regard and respect. We respect people's time, efforts, and expressions. Our Diversity Statement reflects our commitment to inclusion.

2. Practice Collaborative Project Management

Project-based work is an efficient flexible way to get work done. It can keep costs low when done well. It is a new way of work for many of us. To enable this new way of work, we strive towards excellent collaborative project management practices. We teach each other as we learn.

3. Practice Effective Communication

There are things we don't know that we don't know. By giving each other feedback, we can become more aware and more effective at work. If you have any disagreement or distress over the conduct of a member of the community, check your own assumptions out directly with the other person. Own your own interpretations and feelings. If need be, please ask a Facilitator for assistance.

4. Practice Responsibility

When you leave or disengage from the project, in whole or in part, we ask that you do so in a way that supports the project. This means you tell people you are leaving and take the proper steps to ensure that others can pick up where you leave off.

5. Share Ten Percent

Dreamfish is free to join. When we earn money from work that has come about through dreamfishing, we contribute 10% to Dreamfish to sustain our work coop. And, give a hand up where people need a hand. People will give you a hand up, too. It's all trust. This way, you exchange directly with your clients and coworkers. You pay Dreamfish freely, rather than Dreamfish be an intermediary in transaction.
