Focus on User Experience

Dreamfish is a community of people, rather than a tech platform. We are building an experience for emerging market entrepreneurs, web workers, open source projects, consultants, and networks of change agents. Members live in many regions. Members in emerging markets are often new to the web with access to mobile and sms. The experience of Dreamfish and member interaction crosses many channels - web, in-person, email, calls, mobile.

Open source: We are contributing to open source projects by extending and customizing software for usability. In addition, we foster and convene new open source projects in our work environment.

The team - To help our members to be successful in their work, we have a commitment to the best user experience possible. With deep expertise in collaboration and collaborative learning, we are diverse in many ways. We work across languages and timezones. Everyone is highly self-directed, smart, professional, and we work together extremely well as a team. We get excited about figuring out how what we build helps to increase inclusiveness in our interconnected world. We are looking for a user-centered designer to join us.

You would participate in a collaborative product design process from detailed user interface and functionality design to usability review. Your core contributions would be to:

Collaborate as a team member while also working independently.
Design user interactions and information architecture for a platform that integrates several kinds of open source social software, including wordpress, mediawiki, IRC, email lists and community networking.
Design user flows and wireframes
Design the web interface for a project directory and community networking among diverse entrepreneurs and first-time web users. In Phase 2, we will also work with web-to-mobile and SMS interfaces.

Show outstanding quality of work in a portfolio of work
Experience in a collaborative team
Learn quickly from practice and thrives on challenges
Experience with mobile and SMS would be a plus
CSS skills are a plus
Familiarity with Agile Project Management.
Demonstrate strong communication skills. Intercultural communication skills are a plus

This work can be accomplished on a project basis.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for someone who wants to collaborate on a team to build a world-changing world of work. We would want for you to jump in and start immediately on a project that moves Dreamfish to live beta.

As a voting member of the cooperative, you would be an owner of Dreamfish. Your service would be tracked as a contribution to Dreamfish. Initially, you would be compensated with non-cash value. Because each person has different value they seek, we will will out the details together.
