What is a wiki?

A wiki is an online collaboration environment where everyone can create, share, and edit not only content but even the organizing structure itself. Since wikis are easy to edit and link pages internally, it requires no special technical skills to shape the structure of the content as well as creating and updating the content.

In a wiki, we can edit each other's pages. Not only can you edit your own pages, but if you want to update information on someone else's page, you are free to do so. Once a page is edited, the original version is saved and can be compared to current versions or even reverted back (by anyone).

At Dreamfish, we foster a positive collaborative approach to editing each others pages -- it's a way of helping each other.

Since anyone can contribute to the building process on a wiki, wikis can be used for about anything you want. At Dreamfish, we use the wiki to:

  • create, hire for and manage projects and tasks
  • offer work or services
  • create our profiles and portfolios
  • have conversations about the work we are doing

Even the tutorial you are reading was built collaboratively using a wiki!
